Aliya Saied-Tessier – Director
Aliya is a Director at Alma Economics and an expert in applied econometrics, and she also holds a degree in Psychology. She has almost 20 years of experience as a professional economist and her passion is working on issues related to children and vulnerable populations.
While at Alma, Aliya has led numerous high-profile research projects for major public and private sector clients, including the UK government, the Welsh Government, Local Authorities, leading charities, and third sector organisations.
Before joining Alma, Aliya worked as an economic adviser in several government departments in the UK including HM Treasury, the House of Commons (UK Houses of Parliament), HM Revenue and Customs, and the Cabinet Office. As a Senior Policy and Research Analyst at the National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children (NSPCC), she developed the first UK estimate of the cost of child abuse. She has also worked as a researcher at the Nuffield Family Justice Observatory, promoting positive change for children and their families.
Aliya holds an MSc in Economics from University College London, and an MSc in Psychology (Distinction) from Coventry University.
In her spare time, Aliya enjoys watching anime, trying to learn Korean, and spending time with her children.
