Economist - Graduate Scheme

This position is open until Sunday 19 May 2024

What is it?

Welcome to the Alma Economics Graduate Scheme for Economists – a great opportunity for recent graduates and final-year students to kickstart their careers in public policy consulting.

The programme's structure is designed to provide a comprehensive learning experience. From the outset, you’ll be engaged in collaborative efforts within multi-disciplinary teams and mentored by top experts in their field aimed at enhancing analytical, teamwork, and project-management skills.

As part of the graduate scheme, you'll dive into research work right from the start, engaging in quantitative analysis and the creation of clear, concise reports that effectively communicate complex economic insights in plain English.

We also put a lot of emphasis on collaboration which extends beyond the Research teams, encouraging interaction with Tech, Commercial, and Communications & Media teams. You’ll have the chance to move seamlessly between departments, through an annual rotation, gaining exposure to a diverse array of projects and interacting with professionals from various backgrounds. We will take your preferences into account, before assigning you to specific teams.

What’s in it for you?

To better equip you with the necessary skills for success in public policy consulting, we offer training and development sessions as part of the graduate scheme. You will get exposure to a range of essential areas, including economic modelling, data analysis, policy analysis, and communication skills.

Apart from doing work that matters, an exciting feature of the graduate scheme is the potential for direct client interaction. You’ll contribute to real-world projects, engaging with clients and stakeholders to gain practical experience in the field of public policy. This exposure won’t only enrich your understanding but also position you for a well-rounded career in the consulting industry.

The dynamic nature of Alma provides ground for rapid growth, offering opportunities for advancement within the firm. Regular performance evaluations ensure that your progress is tracked, and your work is recognised and rewarded. Mentorship and coaching also plays a pivotal role in the scheme, offering you the chance to be paired with experienced professionals to provide valuable guidance and support, encompassing both technical expertise and competencies development.
