Pablo Romero - Back-end Developer & Data Scientist
Pablo is an accomplished Data Scientist with a background in biochemistry. At Alma, he employs his technical expertise to navigate complex datasets and develop cutting-edge tools to support our research efforts.
Pablo previously worked as a Drug Discovery Data Scientist at the Francis Crick Institute, where he played a central role in the preclinical testing of novel cancer therapeutics. He developed in-house reporting tools to parse huge amounts of data for drug discovery and led research exploring advancements in personalised cancer treatment strategies. Having a positive social impact is one of the key drivers of his career.
Pablo holds a Data Science PhD in Cancer Therapeutics from King’s College London. For his doctoral thesis, he led the development of a Python-based analysis pipeline for a novel epigenetics methodology. That work was subsequently developed into a web-based, zero-code tool for widespread use by other researchers. He previously completed an MSc in Experimental Pharmacology and Therapeutics at University College London, as well as a BSc in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at the University of the Basque Country.
Almost as impressive as his Data Science skills is Pablo’s collection of Rubik’s cubes. We’re not talking simple 3-by-3s either – some aren’t even cube-shaped. The man likes solving complicated problems.
